歌入りのブギウギ曲だ．上に挙げた録音はそれぞれ歌詞が違うようだが，キーとなる歌の文句は，

Soon this morning, baby, 'bout the break of day,
I will lay my head on the pillow, where my baby used to lay.

というものだ．特に，ウォルター・ローランドの5には，

The girl reaches the age of twenty.
She thinks she's grown...

という歌詞が出て来る．つまり，サニー・ボーイ・ウィリアムスンNo.1やジュニア・ウェルズの"Early in the Morning"の元歌がコレだ，と思う．サニー・ボーイがレコードにして以降はスタンダード曲としてさらに多くの歌手に歌われていく．サニー・ボーイのバージョンに基づくものでは，タンパ・レッド名義で出たもの（歌はリトル・ジョニー・ジョーンズ）なども素晴らしい．
